What You Need to Know About the 2024 Winter eBay Seller Update

What Did Ebay Reveal?

EBay has released its 2024 Winter Seller Update. The goal of every update is to  introduces new and enhanced features to help sellers reach more buyers, sell more efficiently, and protect their business.  What do sellers need to know?

  • Drafts of your listings will now be saved for 75 days after their last update. You can access and edit your drafts from the Seller Hub or the eBay app, and publish them when you are ready.
  • Security enhancements added for multi-user account access. You can now assign and share the day-to-day work in messaging and setting up advertising and promotions with other users, without compromising your account security or privacy.
  • Access to the last 3 years of sold items data using Terapeak. You can use Terapeak to research the market trends, demand, and pricing for your products, based on the historical data of sold items on eBay.
  • Improved feedback system for buyers and sellers. eBay has made the feedback more relevant, visible, and informative by showing the most recent feedback first, allowing buyers to add images to their feedback, and displaying replies to feedback on mobile and desktop.

What Financial Changes Are Ahead

  • Improvements to reduce unpaid items extended to seller-initiated offers. eBay will automatically open and close unpaid item cases for seller-initiated offers, and block buyers who have a history of not paying for such offers.
  • Updates to fees and financials. eBay has adjusted the per-order fee for orders over $10.00 from 30 cents to 35 cents, to reflect the rising costs in the market. This change will take effect on April 1, 2024.
  • Update your business seller account to comply with the Digital Services Act. eBay will ask you to verify your identity and contact information, and provide additional information about your products and services, to comply with the new EU regulations that aim to increase transparency and accountability in the online marketplace.
  • Social Page now available for all sellers. You can now create and customize your own Social Page on eBay, where you can showcase your brand, products, and promotions, and connect with your buyers and followers.
  • You can now use the Sales tab on your Storefront to display your active coupons and attract more buyers to your store.

Overall these updates are very positive.  Happy sellers create happy buyers.  These changes should work to improve the Ebay atmosphere and enhance the platform.
